Air samples and surface swabs sent to a certified lab tell you exactly what mold is in your home -species, concentration, and severity.
“Courtney was very thorough in her inspection of our house when we hired Pure Maintenance for our mold removal and remediation. They went above and beyond to make sure that every single area I had concerns about was addressed as well as offering tips for afterwards to finish sealing up the house and detoxing from mold ourselves. Would definitely recommend!”
“Courtney at Pure Maintenance is absolutely amazing. She is caring, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in achieving the best outcome for her clients. I had a very negative experience with Indoor Environmental Testing, as they were unwilling to speak with me by phone about the results and were quite rude. Then I connected with Courtney, and the difference was remarkable. She took the time to thoroughly discuss the testing outcomes, explained treatment options clearly, and showed real concern for helping me move forward. When you are having a mold issue, you need kindness, patience and the understanding of a partner who wants the best for your family. I would 100% recommend Courtney to this. Also, the vapor she used was helpful - my brain fog almost immediately lifted, which I didn't even think was attributed to the mold in the home! Definitely use Pure Maintenance for your needs - highly recommend them.”
“I cannot stress enough how wonderful Courtney and her team are. She is data driven-- your quote will be based on mold being tested for rather than eye balling where they think mold could be. Additionally, they do all of this without being condensing in any way, encouraging questioning the process/ how things work. For results-- my partner and I had recurring sinus infections that have gone away once treatment was completed. We've also both had less headaches.”
“I highly recommend Pure Maintenance Wisconsin! They made a very stressful situation of discovering black mold in our home, causing severe mycotoxin illness, a seamless and stress free process. Courtney is amazing! She and her team are excellent at communicating, and are very detailed in explaining the process. Courtney is the 1st person to be certified in Wisconsin with this specific type of mold remediation! It’s cutting edge. They removed literally every spore from our space. Unfortunately, as a population, we are not educated about mold and its dangers - that it can cause cancer, for example. Most mold remediation is inadequate & does not actually remove the dangerous spores from your space. Courtney is an expert and can be 100% trusted. My doctor’s office even uses her company. Thank you, Courtney!”
“Courtney and the team were so helpful! After a renovation of our basement we thought all the mold was gone. Courtney came in and investigated until she found spots we hadn't thought about. She kept working with us until we eradicated the mold entirely! The demo'd a few spots that were too saturated with mold, dried out anything that could be salvaged, and applied the vapor. Very effective process that was much less expensive than redoing our basement stairs and more walls! It's been so nice to have our house back!”
“Courtney was extremely knowledgeable about mycotoxin illness and the steps that needed to be taken to remediate my condo - including dealing with odd schedules and an inflexible HOA. For tasks outside of Pure Maintenance's specialty, she recommended other skilled local professionals who also did their jobs quickly and well. I highly recommend this company.”
“We needed a mold issue addressed and contacted Pure Maintenance Wisconsin. Courtney worked with us to identify the underlying issues before the treatment to avoid the problem reoccurring afterwards. Everything was taken care of in a timely manner and very professionally. I highly recommend using them for any mold remediation.”
“I was very impressed with Pure Maintenance Mold Removal. I have the HLA genotype that doesn’t form antibodies to the mycotoxin that mold spores produce, and therefore I get pretty sick from a mold exposure with CIRS symptoms. Our basement was flooded in August and after initial remediation from an emergency company, I was still experiencing symptoms. I had heard about Pure Maintenance from a health podcast and felt fairly convinced that they would make my home healthy again. Customer service was excellent and prompt, communication was clear. Courtney (the owner) came to my home and pointed out areas that still needed remediated. She was very detailed as she went through my home, searching for potential mold spores. She and her team came in and completely removed any potentially remaining mold, using negative air pressure to ensure the spores did not infiltrate the rest of my home. After they were confident they removed all of the mold spores, they treated my entire home with their dry fog which completely neutralizes the air. They tested the air after their work and levels were at zero. When I came back into my home after their work, the air was so fresh and clean. I no longer had symptoms from the mycotoxin exposure and feel healthy again. Courtney is extremely detail oriented and is an expert in mold remediation. She is honest, and collaborates with her clients on the best remediation approach. My only regret is that I didn’t hire Pure Maintenance right away after the flood to do the initial remediation. I highly recommend them!”
You can see something that wasn't there last month. Your kid's been coughing for weeks and nobody can work out why. A home inspector flagged a smell in the basement. The trouble with mold is that looking at it only tells you it's there. It doesn't tell you what species it is, how much is in the air, or whether it's the kind that actually makes people ill. That's what sampling is for, and we can usually have cassettes and swabs in your house within a day or two.
Most people call us once guessing has stopped being good enough. A doctor wants to know exactly what the family is reacting to before prescribing anything. A home sale is stuck because the buyer wants proof of what's behind the basement drywall. Another company did remediation six months ago and you're not sure they actually got it all. Or you're a landlord in a back-and-forth with a tenant who says the unit is making them sick, and you need a report that isn't just your word against theirs. None of these get better if you wait. Mold keeps growing. Deals die. Kids get sicker. The argument with the tenant gets nastier. Underneath almost every one of these calls, somewhere, there's water: an ice dam that backed water under the shingles last February, a slow pipe leak, a basement that took on groundwater during the spring thaw, condensation behind drywall where the insulation stopped short, a bath fan vented into a cold attic where it drips back down through the winter.
We use two methods, depending on what you actually need to know. Air sampling pulls a measured volume of air through a cassette, and that cassette goes to an accredited outside lab for spore counts and species ID. We always take an outdoor control sample on the same visit, because the only way to know your indoor numbers are abnormal is to compare them against what's drifting around outside your front door that day. In Madison that matters more than people think, because outdoor counts in July, when everything's leafed out and the dew point is in the 70s, look nothing like a dry February morning. Surface sampling uses swabs, tape lifts, or small bulk pieces from anywhere you can see growth or suspect it, which is how we confirm or rule out species like Stachybotrys. Everything is bagged and logged under chain-of-custody. Lab results are usually back in three to five business days, and you get the full report, not a filtered version of it.
How much it costs comes down to how many samples we pull, and that's really a question of how much of the house you want looked at. One bedroom with a single air sample and one outdoor control sits at the low end. A whole-house assessment with the attic, basement, and any crawl spaces will be higher. Lab fees are included and shown on the quote as a separate line, so you can see what's going to the lab and what's going to us. You get a written quote before anyone collects anything, and the number on the quote is the number on the invoice.
We send samples to an independent accredited lab. Not one we own. Not one we have a referral deal with. When the company collecting, interpreting, and selling the remediation is all the same company, there's nothing to check their answer against. You get the raw lab report, same as we get. We can usually be on-site within 24 hours around Madison, Middleton, Fitchburg, and Sun Prairie, weekends included. If your results come back normal, we'll tell you straight and you won't hear a remediation pitch. If they don't, we'll walk you through what the options actually look like for your situation, including our vapor treatment.
If you want actual numbers instead of somebody's opinion about what's in your air, call Pure Maintenance Wisconsin at 608-555-0199. We'll get out fast, collect what the lab needs, and give you a report you can make real decisions from. Same-day appointments are usually available.
